Hope & Shawshank
Andy once said the words that still reverberate with
generations after generations.
But maybe, hope is not a good thing after all; and it's
certainly not the best of things, because it dies, eventually!
It dies, a slow death, and tears apart you in ways that
nothing else can. Because a man without hope may not necessarily have a purpose
to live for, or to smile at. But he still may keep clinging to his despair and
push through just one more day.
But you give a man some hope, and whoa! You've suddenly
taken his long known and familiar alleys of sadness and despair from his heart,
and filled them with rented Sunshines that glimmer the voids within!
The man who's so accustomed to the darkness, that he's nothing
better than a blind man, can only have so much of light at once! And when,
somehow, with a lot of effort worth his life, he adjusts to this blinding
brightness of hope, the hope dies!
It's all the blind darkness again. The same alleys now
again reek of despair and sadness! But the man's now blinded by the light and
has lost his familiar way! What does he have left other than to suffer? And
it's the worst suffering of all!
It's a bottomless pit, and you can sink as low as your last
blow! And there's no coming back from that pit of darkness, not with any hope,
because hope created that bottomless pit to begin with!!
So no Andy, hope's rather a sinister thing. Maybe the most evil things of all; and no evil thing can let you live...!!
